Orange and Green Exposed Oil

$150.00

I initiated this project while thinking of a way to combine my love of sewing with my interest in painting. I liked the twelve-inch small scale format, much resembling a quilt block. The painted collage pieces were assembled over eighth-inch foam sheeting, with stitch detail adding a similar dimension to quilting. To continue this theme, heavy metal separating zippers allow the individual pieces to be joined together in numerous, unique configurations. Many of the over-painted papers are souvenirs from my travels, and significant items, such as torn fabric from my painting pants.
Paper, cardboard, acrylic paint, postcard, magazine, recycled canvas, playing card, plastic fencing, plastic foam, wool felt, metal zipper, cotton thread
Size 12×12”
