This painting began with a bold graffiti underlay of oil pastels. The transparent effect back to bare canvas is a happy by-product of the color wash. A process I truly enjoy is mixing colors directly on the canvas. Here you can see it in the grey and pink areas, turning to green, in the lower left corner. Additionally, mixed media newspaper faces recede behind the paint, as if they are looking behind a curtain. Black, yellow and orange meandering lines were added next, sometimes connecting to each other. I frequently use the color pink. As a member of the red family, it is significant representation of energy, passion and love.
